The next edition of Messy Church is on Sunday 26 October at 4 pm in St John's Church. The theme is Jesus the light for the world. As usual, we will have a number of craft activities and our Minecraft station for the young and old to play and worship God creatively before coming together for a short time of prayer and reflection. Messy Church always ends with a sit down meal where we chat and celebrate fellowship with each other. |

This week a number of local primary schools visited St John's for a special harvest celebration. Fr Phelim led the service (which can be seen below the youtube clip). The focus was on saying the usual Harvest 'thank you' to God for all the blessings of our lives yet with a reminder that 1 in 8 people in the world go hungry. This youtube clip was used to show how feeding everyone can be done if everyone chooses to share what they have. The format of the service was a prezi which can be seen below here. The gospel message was the parable of the two sons told in a picture format. The message was that actions are often more important than words and so saying thank you without sharing with those who are hungry makes no sense.
